RAM, ROM and Cache Memory
RAM- Random Access Memory – it is dynamic memory and made by using capacitors and transistors, Slow compared to Cache memory.
Its contents are deleted after you reboot.
ROM –Read Only Memory – No changes possible after storage. Program is written once.
Cache Memory Static Memory [ made by using transistors] – It is the fastest and used to run your system faster. More cache memory = Fast computer.
DRAM- Dynamic RAM - [made by using transistors and capacitors] - Capacitor in this memory get discharge so it require refresh signal. So it is slow.
But it is cheaper than cache Static memory.
Types of cache memory – L1, L2 and L3 cache
L1 cache - inside CPU
L2 cache - on the CPU
L3 cache - on the motherboard
To check cache memory in the system . Open Task Manager→click
Performance tab → click on CPU
