Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) :

• It has an extra layer of shielding (foil or braided mesh) around the wires or the cable to protect against interference.
• It is more costlier and complex to install because of the added shielding and grounding requirements.
• STP provides excellent protection against EMI and crosstalk.
• STP is used in high-speed, long-distance transmissions or environments with high EMI (Ex.industrial buildings and data centers).
• It supports higher speeds and longer distances than UTP under adverse conditions.
