4.LAN Switch :

• It connects devices like desktop, laptop,servers, Lan printers within a network, forwarding data only to the intended recipient.
• The switch device is using a MAC address table for storing MAC table in its memory.

There are mainly two types of switches :

• Standard Switches
• Managed Switches

Standard Switches are using CAM (Content Addressable Memory) Table to hold MAC address table.Managed Switches have an Operating System which we can manage to handle traffic. The top most companies providing Managed Switches are Cisco Systems and Juniper.In a LAN (Local Area Network) switch, the MAC table—also known as the MAC address table or forwarding table—is stored in the switch's memory.
