Network Topologies

Ring Topology :

• Ring topology also known as Token Ring, developed by IBM in the 1970s.
• Devices form a closed loop; data travels in one direction (e.g., Token Ring).
• Fault in one device can disrupt the network.

• It is using Token for communication.
• It is unidirectional.
• Higher cost to implement.
• Faster than that time available 10Mbps Ethernet network.
• It is part of IEEE 802.5 standard.
• Speed was available at 4Mbps and 16Mbps.
